Is ACES Tech a public school?
Yes. ACES Technical is a state-authorized public charter school. Our school is responsible for meeting the same education laws and requirements as traditional neighborhood districts and schools.
What is your primary educational focus?
ACES Tech is a Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Math (STEM) focused school with a well-rounded educational program. In addition to completing classes in core subjects such as math and science, students take Spanish, Music, and Physical Education. Our students will graduate college and career ready no matter what field they decide to pursue.
Where are you located?
ACES Tech is located in central Albuquerque, at 4501 Montgomery Blvd NE, between I-25 and San Mateo. Our school occupies the second floor of the building, above the Evangel Christian School located on the first floor. There is no connection between the schools outside of occupying two separate floors of the building.
Do you offer transportation to students?
Yes. Transportation is available for interested families. Our bus routes and stops are determined based upon the number and proximity of student riders.
What is ACES Tech’s daily bell schedule?
ACES Tech schedule is built around a six class period model, plus a 15 minute daily advisory period. We have an innovative blended schedule, where secondary students attend all periods from Monday through Wednesday, periods 1 to 3 on Thursdays, and periods 4 to 6 on Fridays. Elementary students have the same schedule all five days per week. There is a common 30 minute lunch period for all students, and a 30 minute Tech Time period for student supports and enrichment.
What is Tech Time?
In every school there is a range of student performance and needs. Students will struggle with some classes and excel in others. Tech Time is a period in each day designated for providing supports, such as tutoring for students in the areas that they are struggling, while concurrently offering student-led enrichment time to students who are excelling. The goal is to offer in-school opportunities for every student to reach their potential.
Do you have a dress code?
Yes. ACES Tech students are expected to follow the dress code outlined in our uniform policy. We believe that the dress code promotes a more positive, less distracting, and a less clothing-focused school environment. School districts throughout the country have reported beneficial outcomes related to dress codes, including improved self-esteem, better attendance, and greater focus on learning.
Do you offer school meals?
Yes. We plan to participate in the federal school breakfast and lunch programs. Our exact plan for implementing food services will depend upon the family income information collected from our students when they enroll, as well as available programs administered by the state.
Is admission open to all students?
Yes. Any New Mexico resident student can apply to our annual lottery process.
